Scada and Communications

Press Start Exhibit to page your way through this Exhibition.

This section displays historic SCADA and Communications equipment. SCADA, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition equipment is used to provide remote indication and control of elements of the power system.

SCADA enabled the industry to de-man substations and power stations and provide a more efficient centralised control of the power system. SCADA is utilised in the control of many other industries, notable railway control systems.

The original South Island Westinghouse SCADA was based on a train control system. Westinghouse developed from the Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company.
