The work can be very time-consuming, but more importantly a lot of fun. Shudder to think what sort of label Brian has on the other side. Over the years a small and enthusiastic bunch of us have travelled to Bunnythorpe to methodically itemise each and every object, photograph them and merge them into our ever-growing database.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nThe Bunnythorpe store is unheated though, so in mid-winter there are lots of more pleasant places to be! God only knows how we manage to coincide many of our working bees with the coldest days of the year, but it seems that is what we do best. Many \u2018happy\u2019 hours have been spent huddled under the warming glow of the floodlights as we take photos of each piece of the collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nCheck out the merry team of toilers as they battle the cold for a good cause\u2026 This photo shows Stuart (where did you get that hat?) and Brian struggling to describe some wire twisters that have been donated to us. It has proved to be extremely difficult to put a name on some of the equipment, even more difficult to try and trace where it came from. We rely heavily on a network of specialists both from inside the industry and from our growing band of retirees to help us in this work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tony seems pretty bewildered by the sight of a such fine piece of electro-mechanical line protection from a few years gone by. You might wonder if there is anyone left in the industry with the necessary skills to maintain such a complex piece of equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This photo of Stuart and Tony shows the main indication panel that was removed from Islington substation.
