GridHeritage was set up in 2002 as an Incorporated Society called Electricity Transmission Heritage of New Zealand Incorporated. The legal name remains unchanged, but in 2005 we chose a simpler working name - GridHeritage.

Our Objectives

To protect, store and make available the Electricity Transmission Heritage collection by:

  • protecting the existing collection
  • cataloguing the collection
  • adding articles to the collection over time
  • making the collection available to professionals and educational users.

To establish a body of interested people to ensure the ongoing development and running of the Electricity Transmission Heritage.

To promote the development of Energy Heritage Collections throughout New Zealand and build links with kindred organisations internationally.

Items to be collected include papers, files, books, manuals, catalogues, notes, drawings, calculations, photographs, equipment, instruments, tools and oral histories in accordance with a collection policy.
